We are excited and proud to be dedicating this event to Anthony M. Capobianco and his family. Anthony's mother and sister approached one of our volunteers at an adoption event to talk about Anthony - especially about his love for all dogs. They asked if there was a way to involve Anthony's passion into an event. The Fast & Furriest seemed like a perfect fit.
At the very young age of three, Anthony was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. By the time he turned 12, Anthony was wheelchair-bound.
Anthony was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was compassionate, brave, kind, patient, honest and loyal. He loved and appreciated life and lived it with passion each day. He found great joy in simple every day things and lived his life with faith, courage and a peaceful heart, never complaining and always smiling and laughing. Anthony loved all animals, especially dogs. Dogs touched his heart deeply, and he cared for them tenderly and with love. He couldn't stand the thought of a dog being hungry, abused or without a good loving home. He would save his money from birthdays and holidays to make a donation each year, in hopes the money would bring some happiness to a dog in need. Anthony passed away in March, 2015, at the young age of 36.
We know Anthony would be thrilled, amazed and grateful to know this event will keep his dream alive to help many dogs by providing safe environments and happy forever homes. We at Operation Paws for Homes are elated to help keep this dream alive.
Anthony, his family and the OPH family thank you all for your support.
